Ethelind at the Sculpture Garden

This is Ethelind, photographed by Kylee at the Walker Art Center last fall in the most stunning yellow dress.

this woman radiates joy from head to toe, so much so that a stranger in the garden stopped over, beaming, to say she’d never witnessed anything so joyful as Ethelind spinning in this beautiful dress that took up so much space — which was a reason she wanted to wear it in the first place, to show how a Black woman takes up space in the world unapologetically. Joyfully.

Ethelind beautifully takes up space as she fully embodies joy, enormous dress or not. When the shoot was over, the creases of my cheeks ached from smiling.

This collaboration reignited my passion for photography when I was deep in an uninspired rut...I have @ethelind_belle and her yellow dress of joy to thank for that. 💛💛💛
